St. Augustine Child Support Attorneys

When a couple has a child together, they are legally bound to support that child until he or she reaches the age of majority.  The amount of child support to be paid is determined by statute based on the parties' combined incomes and is shared between the parties based on their income relative to each other.  Although child support is a fairly straightforward area of family law, certain deductions and credits are factored into the child support calculation that are complicated. Neither party can waive the support of a minor child, if a party does not pay child support they may face a suspension of their driver's license and possibly jail.  See Florida Statute 61.30.
