Firm Overview

At the Law Office of Shorstein & Lee, we have an excellent reputation for trustworthy, diligent, and competent representation of our clients. With more than 40 years combined experience, we have the experience to handle your case. The continuing success of our practice is due to our commitment to simple principles: being completely honest with our clients, working hard on their behalf, and achieving the best possible results in each and every case.

In the courtroom, our lawyers have had great success. Our St. Johns County criminal defense attorneys have obtained “not guilty” verdicts or dismissals on a long list of criminal cases, including homicide, DUIs (Driving Under the Influence), sale and/or possession of drugs, battery, and a variety of traffic offenses. If your case goes to trial our experience and reputation will guide you. We consult closely with each client regarding their case. If they wish to avoid the stress of a trial, we negotiate the best possible plea agreement terms. Keep in mind that most cases do not go to trial, and we are confident that our reputation for negotiating desired results without the necessity of trial is exceptional.

The Law Office of Shorstein & Lee consists of two full-time attorneys. Alyssa Shorstein is dedicated to representing clients in the areas of Criminal Defense, Estate Planning & Probate. Sung Lee has a very successful Family Law and Criminal Defense practice.

Both Alyssa and Sung are experienced criminal defense attorneys in St. Johns County. We defend clients who have been charged with a crime in all stages of the proceeding. We strive to fight for what is just in each and every case, whether you are being faced with attempted murder or a misdemeanor traffic violation. You are not just a number to us, but are a person who deserves fairness and compassion. In your free criminal consultation, you can expect us to explain how the system works, discuss your particular charges and circumstances, and for us to give you an honest, realistic evaluation of your case.

Alyssa’s practice areas also include Estate Planning and Probate:

  • Estate Planning clients can expect a thorough consultation which involves discussing assets, debts, family members, other possible beneficiaries, and final wishes. She also explains the differences between a trust and a will, what would best fit your needs, and why. Estate Planning is extremely important not only for your family’s sake after your death, but also for your own peace of mind knowing that you did everything you could to leave your family members in the best possible position after your death. A full estate plan consists of a Living Trust and/or a Last Will & Testament along with a variety of preplanning documents that are needed during your lifetime. After the consultation, she will then meet with you to review all of your documents, answer any questions you may have and make any changes that are needed. Once your estate plan is completed and signed, then your final visit to the office will be to pick up your estate planning portfolio that contains your original documents and a copy of each.
  • In a probate and/or trust administration consultation, you can expect a thorough explanation of the process. Probate is the court process is required after someone’s death to transfer probate assets to the beneficiary(ies). A trust administration is what is needed to transfer assets from a trust to the beneficiaries identified in the trust document. In your consultation, Alyssa will discuss the administration process that will be needed in your situation and then as your attorney, will guide you through each step until the administration is completed.

Sung also practices in the area of family law. His consultations are famous in our office for the length of time that he takes with each client. His consultations often last for hours and he prides himself in making sure he educates the client as much as possible about their situation and their options. He represents clients who need help in dissolution of marriage (divorce), child custody, paternity, alimony, child support, and/or modification matters.

Our offices are located in St. Johns County where we primarily practice. We have two office locations: one on county road 210 and one at Palencia on US1 North. We also practice Putnam and Flagler Counties. Our St. Johns County based criminal defense attorneys provide free consultations for individuals seeking defense representation.
